Kansas City Royals is one of the professional teams in Central Division in American League. The name Royals came from annual American Royal Livestock Parade. Kansas City Royals play at Ewing Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Since the begging of Kansas City Royals they had white and blue uniform.
Kansas City Royals entered the league in 1969, they were considered to be one of the most successful expansion teams in major league. In first 12 seasons they won four division titles and 1 pennant. The key player that Kansas City Royals had was George Brett. He was with Royals for 21 years and he put up amazing numbers. He has .305 batting average and 3154 hits. He won many awards in his career.
Kansas City Royals was the best team in 1980s in American League Central
Division. In 1985 they won first World Series in franchise career. When Royals won World Series pitcher Bret Saberbagen finished with tremendous number he won 20 games and lost only 6 games. He won 2 American League Cy Young Awards while he was with the Kansas City Royals.
Saberhagens received his second Cy Young Award in 1989, that year he won 23 games and lost only 6. Also that year Bo Jackson a football running back played for Royals as a baseball player and put on great number 32 homeruns and had 105 runs batter in. Royals stopped their domination in 1990. Almost all the good players they had they lost them to other teams. In 1994 David Cone did get American League Cy Young Award but it still wasn’t enough to make Royals a stronger team. Also that same year Bob Hamelin received rookie of the year award, but that also didn’t help them. They just weren’t strong enough to play against other teams. Kansas City Royals struggled during mid and late 1990s. Even now days they are not the same as they used to be. Maybe in 2005 Kansas City Royals can do something better and win again.
