Florida Marlins are a professional Baseball team based in Miami, Florida. The team was founded in 1993. Florida Marlins' first manager was Rene Lachemann who had previously managed other teams such as Seattle Mariners and Milwaukee Brewers. In 1993, Lachemann kept Florida out of the Eastern Division cellar during that season as the team finished the year five games ahead of the last-place New York Mets. Lachemann was substituted as manager through the 1996 season with the Marlins' director of player development, John Boles because the Marlins finished last in their division in 1994 and fourth in 1995.

In 1997, the Florida Marlins had won continuously throughout the season when they were led by a new Manager Jim Leyland. They swept San Francisco Giants (3 to 0) in the National League Division Series, and then went on to beat the Atlanta Braves (4 to 2) in the National League Championship Series. In 1997, Florida Marlins went to take on the Cleveland Indians and won the World Series in 7 games. Liván Hernández, a former Florida Marlin pitcher, was named the MVP of the World Series at that time.

After the World Series victory, Huizenga, the owner, had traded the club's most brilliant players due to the massive financial losses. For example, “Moises Alou” was traded to the Houston Astros and “Bobby Bonilla” was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a result of the continues trading, Marlins' record dropped to 54-108 in 1998 , making them the first team yet to win a World Series and then lose more than hundred games in the following season. Huizenga sold the club to John Henry, a businessman, during the off-season period.

Florida Marlins' Uniform colors are Black, Gray, Aqua, and White; some Orange. Florida Marlins play in Pro Player Stadium. The stadium has been home to a lot of baseball teams such as Miami Dolphins (since 1987) and to Florida Marlins (since the team was founded 1993). Marlins management said that Pro Player Stadium is an inadequate stadium to host a major league team on a regular basis because alot of seats are too far from the field.
