In 1969 National League gave 2 more cities 2 teams. One of the cities was Montreal and another was San Diego. Charles Bronfman became in charge of Montreal Expos.

Montreal Expos began their first spring training in Palm Beach Florida for the first time. They seemed like they would be a great team. Montreal Expos played their first game against the Mets and they won 11 – 10. Montreal Expos made a first home run in their team history in the third inning in the first Montreal Expos game in teams history.

In Montreal teams fans came to watch the first game and it was amazing because almost thirty thousand people showed up at the game. First home game and Expos defeated St. Louis Cardinals 8-7. They started out great but it just wasn’t enough to make them a great team. They needed more talent in their lineup.

2004 was the final season for Montreal Expos to play in Montreal. They finished in fifth place in National League Eastern Division with a record of 67 – 95.

Washington D.C was talking about a baseball team for a while now but they still

didn’t have one. But in 2004 they decided and they were approved to buy Montreal Expos. In 2005 Washington D.C. is having it own team Nationals.

They were approved by MLB and city approved to build a new stadium. 2005 will begin very soon but Washington D.C. Nationals are not wasting any time. They are working fast on getting new players and already talking about Sammy Sosa. Now we have to wait and see how the new team does it in 2005.
