San Francisco Giants History

     San Francisco Giants are a professional Baseball team located in San Francisco, California. The Giants started their life as a baseball club which was founded by John B. Day and Jim Mutrie. The giants were known as the Gothams when they entered to the national league. In 1888, the team won its first National League (NL) pennant when John B. Day and Jim Mutrie started moving star players to the Gothams.

     Andrew Freeman, the owner of the team, was considered to be the worse owner when he changed the Giants' fortunes because of his unnecessary decisions that left the Giants behind. In 1902, John McGraw was a signed to be a player-manager of the team; He managed the Giants for three decades. Because of McGraw, the giants won three World Series championships and ten National League flags.

     The Giants had several key players during its history, such as Smiling Mickey Welch, Roger Connor, Tim Keefe, Jim O'Rourke and Monte Ward. Under McGraw, a lot of remarkable baseball players were playing with the Giants such as Christy Mathewson, Iron Man Joe McGinnity, Bill Terry, Jim Thorpe, Mel Ott and Casey Stengel.
