Atlanta Braves team was founded in 1871 in Boston, Massachusetts as a National Association club. In 1876 the club became a member of the National League and has remained in the league without a break.

Following the 1935 season, Bob Quinn, the new team owner suggested to a team of sportswriters to choose a new nickname for the team because they had faced bankruptcy and poor seasons. The sportswriters chose "Bees", but the name wasn't really used; even Quinn him self refused to use it. in 1941, The team went back to the old name "Braves".
